The Harley Benton JB-75-5MN Natural is a new 5-string ’70s style J Bass that has just about everything you could want from this style of bass. The best part though is the price point. Which makes this bass a real steal!
Harley Benton JB-75-5MN Natural
Harley Bentons’ JB-75-5MN Natural bass comes with some nice specifications. These include a nice-looking solid American Ash body. This is then paired with a bolt-on Candian Hard Rock Maple D profile neck with a Roseacer Skunk Stripe.
The maple fretboard is fitted with 20 medium nickel silver frets and comes with a white graphite nut
Retro ’70s Style
The styling for this model is very ’70s and therefore it has a set of black ABS block inlays and black binding on the neck. Along with the natural gloss finish over that ash body, and a single-ply black pickguard, it does look the part.
Roswell
This model is fitted with a pair of Roswell JBA-B Alnico 5 single coil (bridge) and Roswell JBA-N Alnico 5 single coil (neck) pickups. They are controlled via twin volume controls and a master tone control.
Hardware
All the hardware is finished in chrome, which fits that ’70s theme nicely and it includes a Sung Il WB401CR 5-string bridge with a set of brass saddles. This is paired with a set of five HB CB01-CR open-gear machine heads.
From the factory, this model comes strung with a set of D’Addario EXL165-5 .045 – .135 strings.
5-String
As it is a 5-string model, it gives players a little more low-end to play with via that low B string. I keep a 5-string J Bass in my studio. Mainly because they cover a lot of ground tonally, and so are super versatile for many styles of music. Therefore, I can appreciate that having that extra string to hand, as it just gives you some more options when songwriting, etc.
Overall, this new Harley Benton model looks like a winner and I love the price point on this model.
